TESSA ABRAHAM

PRODUCING  EVENT MANAGEMENT MARKETING

ABOUT ME

After my graduation from school I started studying 'Media Informatics and Interactive Entertainment' (B. Sc.) at the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida which focuses on video game and software development.

During these studies I worked on many different projects.  Most of the time in smaller groups of five to 10 students. However, I was part of a 79 students game developing  project as well. We worked through all the stages of game development – from a rough concept and first paper prototypes to a functioning and polished product. During my internship I gained professional work experience.

Within all those projects I worked in a variety of roles:

Oftentimes I took a leading position  as a producer, where   I organized the meetings, work assignments and presentations, while also working on all kinds of problem solving.

While volunteering at different game development conferences and organizing one myself during my last semester at university, event management proved to be another passion for me! This was further enhanced by my internship, where I worked on the preparations, the actual event and the postprocessing of MAG Erfurt 2018.

My internship also brought me my first professional experiences in marketing. For 'MAG', promotional campaigns had to be realized locally, among which I was allowed to develop one myself. Through workshops and cooperation with influencers, I began to focus on social media marketing, especially.

Furthermore, I also have some experience as a programmer, UI artist, game and level designer.

EXPERIENCE

AUGUST 2017

With a huge team of volunteers at devcom and RESPAWN I worked on access control for VIPs or visitors and headset control where we distributed headsets and recharged them.

I also instructed new volunteers and coordinated a group of 5+ people.

The game 'Elemates' was developed by 79 students of the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida (Class of 2015). I was one of five project managers who coordinated the project.

Elemates is a single player adventure shooter with puzzle elements. The player controls two characters who have to work together to reach their goals:

Finishing the trial of Quetzal and facing the wicked God.

The German games conference 'beta' 2018 was organized and managed by me and four other students.

We invited amazing speakers who held interesting talks and  workshops and we released the game 'Elemates' – the product of a collaboration of nine teams from my universitys class.

As a part of the Event Management team for that video game, I also helped preparing said release.

APRIL 2018

At gamesweekberlin 2018 I volunteered at two different conferences - QUO VADIS [Certificate] where I  was responsible for the main stage and its speakers. I took care of the wellbeing of the visitors and had the chance to work in person with Dan Hay and Don Daglow.

At the A MAZE. I was in charge of the exhibited games in the INDIE Arena. I also helped visitors to learn the basics of the games, responded to questions and made sure that the exhibited hardware was properly secured.

At the German developer conference, 'GDD 2018', I showcased as a representative of my university the game 'Elemates'. It was possible to play it at two gaming stations.

Volunteer

Being a veteran of the Volunteer Experience, I was promoted to be a Tank for 'devcom 2018' - a higher position, with a wider range of tasks assigned to me as well as being responsible for coaching new volunteers.

It was my primary task to coordinate the different shifts of the volunteers in the office and in cooperation with the volunteer manager Dr. Jenn and her Supports (the higher position to Tanks) we coordinated all problems and searched for solutions.

I am currently studying 'Media Informatics and Interactive Entertainment' at the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida where I focus on video game and software development.

During the six semesters that make up the Bachelor's Degree, I took many modules on computer science and programming but specialized in Creative Content Design.

At school I already learned the basics of different programming languages (Java, JavaScript, C# and  HTML 5).

In my final year I designed the yearbook myself in InDesign - the book was summarizing memories of the final eight years of school.
